Safety for the Syncon Team is not a program, it is core value. We don’t do “SAFETY” we live it and expect nothing less from anyone who performs work for us. We value the human element of our business and that is why we strive to provide the safest work environment we can. Our team is widely-recognized for the quality of our safety program, including a recent GOLD STEP ( Safety Training and Evaluation Process ) award from Associated Builders and Contractors

As a company, we have developed innovative mechanisms to ensure and monitor our core safety requirements. The “Minimum Safety Requirements” is a pledge that requires every person working on the site to read and sign prior to starting work on the project. Our “Minimum Safety Requirements” are designed to exceed, rather than meet OSHA and EM385 guidelines.

Program Administration

Our excellent record of safety is due to a total commitment by all employees.  Our safety staff provides oversight for safety concerns from preconstruction analysis through project close-out.  A SSHO is designated for each project to oversee the safety on a daily basis. The SSHO is responsible for site orientations of all subcontractor personnel, recordkeeping, Job Hazard Analysis reviews, and the management of all safety issues that may arise throughout the duration of the project.   The Syncon  team maintains a commitment to hire subcontractors with a culture of safety .

Program Documentation

The Syncon Team requires all subcontractors to submit a safety plan, which is reviewed and approved prior to start up. Subcontractor plans are maintained in a manual and are kept on site until completion. We require that site-specific chemical inventory lists and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) be submitted. We also require a Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) from trades whose work poses an elevated risk and task-specific AHA for scopes of work with unusual tasks.  These documents are filed in the construction field office for easy access and review.

Training Program

Our emphasis on safety training for our people and our subcontractors helps maintain the focus and continual safety improvement on our jobsites. No employee is allowed to perform a job or task unless they have received training on the hazards present and the precautions necessary to perform the job safely.

New Hire Orientation Training – Upon being hired each employee participates in safety orientation including- Company Safety Program / Hazard Communication/ OSHA 10 or 30
Hazard Specific Training – Before beginning a new task, a review of the hazards is conducted by the supervisor. If it is determined that employees will face hazards they have not previously received training. The SSHO conducts training to insure employees can work safely.
Toolbox/Safety Meetings - Our team will hold weekly “Toolbox Meetings”, highlighting a topic pertinent to the specifics of the project or scheduling emphasis. All employees and subcontractors are required to attend.
